Cult singer to front the Doors of the 21st Century. Astbury particularly well suited for the task of replacing the famous rambling, incoherent drunk. Just when you thought the Dinsosaur Rock tours were over…Billboard magazine announced that former Cult frontman/giant Ian Astbury will be assuming the Lizard King role for Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger on a summer tour.

John Densmore, who still maintains some degree of dignity and self-respect, has opted out of the lineup.

Astbury realizes the ‘daunting’ task of replacing perpetually drunk pretention-clown Jim Morrison, but thinks he’s up to the task because Ian’s recorded an album called “Warriors of the Mystic Plains”, which is just as bloated, self-important, and quasi spiritual as anything Morrison ever produced…No word on whether this endeavor will retroactively make The Cult’s “Electric” and “Love” suck.
