I don’t like Evil. It’s kind of sexy and everything in movies (vampire chicks are always smoking hot, for example), but real Evil is actually not sexy at all. At least, I haven’t seen any sexy real Evil yet. Because of my disdain for disappointingly non-sexy, non-cool Evil, I am paying much more attention to this particular election.
This election we are choosing between Evil and Something Not Evil (I wouldn’t necessarily call Kerry “Good”). Dyed-in-the-wool party supporters will probably have you believe that every election is such a choice. But I really don’t have a problem with many Republican members or policies. Hell, half of my family is Republican. And come on, not even the staunchest Liberal could deny that Reagan had a certain grandpa charm to him. Elder Bush may have been evil, but I don’t really think he was all that bad.. a lackadaisical Evil, at best.
George W. Bush and his puppeteers, by contrast, are pure fucking Evil. Like hard-core, boot-to-your-granny’s head evil. I think even Republicans kind of have an inkling of this. My grandpa will never, EVER vote Democrat, but he has at least decided to do his part by not casting a vote for Bush this year. If my grandpa is not going to the polls to pull the lever for the Republicans, you KNOW that there’s some seeerious Evil afoot.
Where the hell was I going with this post? Ummmm… oh yeah! So, I’ve been keeping tabs on this election, the Battle of the Douchebag Who Is Nonetheless Well-Meaning v. Pure, Concentrated, Industrial Strength Just-a-Little-Dab’ll-Do-Ya Penultimate Evil. Take it from a Reverend! Evil! Now, since we elect based on the electoral college, following national polls is pretty much meaningless. So, I’ve found a couple electoral vote-tracking sites that I keep tabs on. In order to keep my “Good” Reverend status, I am supplying two sites, one from a Democrat, the other from a Republican. Because if this post is any indication, I like to keep it nonbiased…
