A belated memorialimage

This month has been so hectic for me that I forgot the fifteenth anniversary of Graham Chapman’s death from cancer on 10/4/89.  Clicking the pic links to a video of probably the best eulogy I’ve ever heard, as delivered by the brilliant and hilarious John Cleese.

What’s not included in that snippet is fellow Python, Eric Idle’s words at the memorial service, saying that Chapman “had thought that Michael Palin talked too much, and had died rather than listen to him any more.”

I hope I can go out with as much laughter.

We should all go out that way. Our friends remembering us with laughter.

    Thanks…that was great.

Not to discount laughter, I’d prefer to go out with shock and awe.

Hence my plan to ensure my demise involves a school bus, a suspension bridge, and a meglomaniacal supervillian named The Unscrupulous Dr. Pickles.

Sorry monkey, but you are the super villain.  So if you want to dress up in a pickle suit and go stand on the Paseo Bridge, go for it man!

  • .alphamonkey.

    Nah, I couldn’t be a supervillian. I’m more of a costumed menace.

heh.. small speaker hidden in the coffin plays a recording of a line from Holy Grail…

“I’m not dead yet! I think I’ll go for a walk!”

john cleese thumps coffin with a club…

I just want to thank all of Monty Python for teaching us the truth about Jesus, and what lumberjacks are really like…..anybody else think alphamonkey owns a few too many plaid shirts?
