John Titor

Ever heard of John Titor?  He’s a time traveller from the post-WWIII futurescape of 2036 – come back to warn us of the impending apocalypse.  Here’s his story.

“Gravity distortion” around his flux capacitor

Okay, so he’s not a time traveller.  However, the guy is certainly a brilliant hoaxer, which is just as entertaining.  Of the many hoaxes in existence on the internet and elsewhere, this is my absolute favorite.  This guy spent a LOT of time on his story.  From photoshopping to study of physics to just plain internal consistency of his ramblings, it is a well-woven tale.  I mean, just check out some of the diagrams for his “time machine”..

He even talked in chat rooms with some people, which would present major opportunities for him to trip up in his story.  But from what I have read, it is all consistent.  John Titor is a tremendously good storyteller – the site makes for a fun read.

listen to the mayan’s, the world is chaning around 2013.

I think we are missing Titor’s true message… legalize it.

as if we did not already have enough religious doomsday profeces(sic)

I thought I had posted it too, but did a search on Titor and found nothing.  Either I didn’t post it, or it was erased.

Secondly – You never fucking post.  Ever.  Ever ever.  So, until you do, how about helping yourself to a warm glass of shut-the-hell-up.

Followed by a chaser of “post something, beyotch”.

I think we’ve referenced our time-travelling friend, but never actually posted anything about him.

    ‘Bout time we did…good post.

we’re still waiting on the “good” post….

i heard about this about 6 months ago and found it to be very intriging.  Although it is most likely a hoax, John Titor does possess a canny ability to predict a future that doesnt seem to be too far off from where we are headed right now.

  • The Good Reverend

hehe well, the next 4 years aren’t too hard to predict. smile

  • Shadow Stalker

Predicting the future on a large scale isn’t too hard.  Read some Toffler sometime; it’s amazing how close he is.

I think I’ve gotten to the bottom of this.  I’ve annotated this evidence for easier evaluation:

Seriously though, it takes an immense gravity field to bend light that much, more than the field at the surface of the sun.  Why isn’t the smoke pulled towards the source?  Why is he not even bracing himself agains the crushing force pulling him against the door?

  • The Good Reverend

His claim is that he and the smoke are inside the “time machine” (which i believe is a Camaro hehe), while the gravity field is outside it.  Thus the light beam is perfectly straight where he’s sitting, then bends severely upon exiting the vehicle.

I think this guys been hanging out w/ molator the dragon

  • Shadow Stalker

That raises a good question: where does god stand on time travellers?

  • fealty2dahriyah

Jebus told me he was all for time travel. he told me it was a trip to see himself on the cross while eating mushrooms

  • Just Plain Bob

Well, i can’t see anything good coming out of time travel. I’m pretty sure the FIRST thing every time traveller would try to do, is prove/disprove the existance of Jesus.

and upon proving the existance of Jesus, how many armed psycho KKKers would pour through a time-portal to take on the armies of Rome and attempt to rescue Jesus from the cross?

  • Just Plain Bob

And, having actually spent some time reading the links… again, another post. whatever. you all love me anyway, right?

I’ve got a few questions in particular that MAY be answered on the strategicminds site, but i wasn’t able to find… John says that the purpose of he and his military folks travelling through time is to “solve problems;” if so, what problem was he here to solve?

Has anyone thought of looking up a John Titor born in 1998, and living (i suppose) in the Florida area?

i’ve got plenty more on the top of my brain but these oughta start some good discussion, right?

but before i go, one more from my ever-articulate roommate, Joe.

“SHOTGUN INFANTRY UNIT?! why don’t WE have any of those!”
