A brief return to the political…

As you may already be aware, Time Magazine has once again named George W. Bush “Person of the Year” for “sticking to his guns (literally and figuratively), for reshaping the rules of politics to fit his ten-gallon-hat leadership style and for persuading a majority of voters that he deserved to be in the White House for another four years” Well, certainly that last one counts for something. It’s not everyday a man convinces a nation to let him kick it in the googlies twice.

Bush joins a goodly list of presidents in having being honored twice alongside Clinton, Reagan, Nixon, Eisenhower, Johnson, Truman, and Roosevelt (3 times for that one!). It also puts him in such revered company as Chiang Kai-Shek (1937), Ayatollah Khomeini (1979), Josef Stalin (1939 and 1942), Nikita Krushchev (1957), and of course, Adolf Hitler (1938).

this article made me flare up w/ IBS. and this is not a party lines thing. but to give a man this acclaim due to being a stubborn texan jackass… begs the question why isn’t this ross perots face. or J.R. Ewing.

is it possible to use Time’s Pud of the year as a barometer for conflict?

Well just because someone is highly influential doesn’t mean its good. Like you said, Josef Stalin was on there and he was a very influential man, I’d like to see you start a club against the man publicly and see how long it was til he influenced you.

George Bush has to take a longer way around the same issue. He just calls them things like “The Patriot Act” and “The Defense Budget”. I mean the guy deserves to be in Time. Over half the world has to deal with his shi… I mean issues. So go ahead, be in Time Mr. President. All the Time magazines in the world can’t help you be a more open, understanding, caring, good president.

    hey bondo,

and it’s not a war it’s a conflict to classify it a war would mean those people had… what do you call them… oh rights. afghanastan needed to be handled, iraq was just something else to do as a distraction. a little economic jump start.

and if you listen to the alquader message… it’s leave us alone or more will follow. if you read history you know that the middle east cannot be tamed by the west(it’s a pride thing to them), they like being old testament… hell it’s about all they ahve left. you are talking about 4000 years of passing on violence as a way of resolving issues. our support of salmund rushdi has spawned an eternal hatred for us. but that is what happens when you call someones prophet the spokesperson for satan.

bush has no strategy. no innovation. no vision. actually maybe NO is a harsh word, he has no tangible strategy. 1# example his estimate for the war, human and monitarily.

let me finish w/ a word of support for the man. he was right about afghanistan. that needed to be done, but that is it, and he still hasn’t followed through and finished that. ok two good words… due to the nonfinishing of taliban, opium supply is raging and cheap.
