Natasha, a five-year-old macaque who lives the zoo in Tel Aviv is now walking exclusively on her hind legs.  Zoo docs are guessing it might be from brain damage suffered during her recent bought with the flu.  Personally, I think Mama Nature’s gearing up for round 2.

yeah i read about this a few months ago.  I find it very comical that one of our proudest achievements as a species is now being replicated by a monkey suffering brain damage.

You were right, that is creepy.  Planet of the Apes-esque.  I wonder how long it will be before zoologists are deliberately breeding monkeys that can walk upright.

It makes me wonder a little bit though. For bipedal walking, the human pelvis shifted at an angle and a curve appeared in the spine. I’m wondering if something similar happened to this monkey, because he is standing fairly upright.

So, what are you guys betting on? What type of post does it take to get souped to post a comment?

Well, we were gonna bet on what it took to get you to post an article, there was too great a chance neither of us would win.  heh.

No, we were discussing whether apes had curved spines.
