Goodnight, Johhny.

Johnny Carson

Oct 1925 – Jan. 2005It feels like he’s been gone awhile, as he’s stayed out of the public eye since retiring, but the fact that he was still alive was strangely always a comfort to me.  Thanks for everything, Johhny.

He had been writing articles for The New Yorker occasionally, and the past few weeks had been contributing jokes to David Letterman’s monologues.

please run some highlights of a fantastic career on television…

i’m pleading silently to NBC here…

i want 2 nights of nothing but Johnny’s best moments.

hell, you could fill a week’s worth of prime time TV with that, but please do something.

They do have some of his best moments on tape and dvd, killdozr. You might have to look around to find them, but they’re out there. I’ve watched them many times, and they really do capture some of his best bits.

i’ve seen them on DVD in shelves, but i was sorta saying, i’d much rather have NBC run a couple of nights of that, instead of letting Leno chin-punch me into listless boredom for another hour or two.
