So there’s this song that’s been making the rounds. So far I’ve seen seven different videos featuring it, usually starring portly effeminate gents doing their best to butcher their own vocal chords singing it. The song? Dragonstea Din Tei by the Romanian(?) band, O-Zone.(or Haiducii, depending on the site..Google was sadly unclear on the issue)

But this little gem is a flash creation of the weird variety putting the song to one very insano interpretation.  Have at it.

i saw one of the other parodies… Joe Plourde and I have become obsessed with it. Thus, we used all our l377 hackor skillz (and by that I mean, our boundless amounts of free time, plus Google) to track down both the english translation of the lyrics.. and the original video.

Yes, that’s right, the ORIGINAL.

It’s fan-freaking-tastic, and I love the little comic-style drawings that shift into the musicians.. awesome. I wish i could do that. (turn from a comic-book drawing of a suave werewolf into a human at will, i mean.)

having compiled a few translations of the lyrics, I will now present to you an editted version which i believe to be aesthetically pleasing and which makes sense. So basically, this is what I myself say the lyrics mean.

“Hello… Hey… It’s me, your Robin Hood.

And I pray, my Love… embrace this happiness!

Hello… hello! it’s me, Picasso!

I gave you beep*, and I’m TOTALLY AWESOME.

But I hope you know I’m not asking you for anything back.

You want to go, but you won’t take me.

no, you don’t take me… you don’t take me.

Your face, and your eyes… they remind me

of the love under the linden tree.

I’m just calling you to let you know…

about these feelings I have

Hello, my love… it’s me, happiness.

Hello, hello, it’s me again, Picasso.

I gave you beep*, and i’m TEHROCKX0RZ.

but know i won’t ask you for anything back.

Also, “maiyahii” means nothing. it’s like ‘tralala’ or something.

the language is romanian.

do you see what i do for you people? i compiled romanian, english, and german (plus my own poetic stylin’s) to come up with that for you. GOSH. you better reco’nize.

They’re the NSync of the Eastern Bloc.  They’re foreign, so it’s still hip to like them, right?

If that’s what it takes for you to be able to sleep at night, sure.
