Handlers in Chiang Mai, Thailand have trained elephants to use the toilet in order to spare tourists from encountering large loads.

I don’t know why, but I was almost positive that was going to be a video link, cookieface.

Hah, but aren’t you glad that it wasn’t?

Elephant grunt would be a great name for a band, by the way.

    Sadly, no.

Damn, they trained an elephant to take a crap on the toilet.  That’s it I’m sending my kid to Thailand.

I saw this last night on S&L, wondered who would post it first.  Nice one cookie.  Since no one seems to be asking the question I will, Why did they train the elephant to do this.  Is there a point?  Or did they just think it would be really funny?

Maybe we can look to the post for an explanation:

“Handlers in Chiang Mai, Thailand have trained elephants to use the toilet in order to spare tourists from encountering large loads.”

Well sure, if you expect me to read!  Actually what I was refering to was why/how they came up with this idea.  Are they building elephant toilets all over the country?  Do the elephants know where they will be?  Have they trained them to hold it in until they find one?  ‘Cause if it’s not a whole country thing, and just a zoo thing, it does sound like a fairly odd solution.  I mean you could always hire a couple more guys to clean up.

You are so incredibly lazy. The write up explains it. It’s just handlers at one tourist place that are doing it for aesthetic purposes.  And in the long run, it’d be cheaper than hiring more handlers.
