Believe It Or Not, It’s Just Me

It seems the generous DVD Gods have smiled down as The Greatest American Hero hits the shelves.  For those of you who don’t remeber this little gem, William Katt plays a teacher who is given a supersuit by aliens.  Along with his lawyer girlfriend (Connie Selleca, looking verrry nice) and a F.B.I. agent (Robert Culp) he uses the suit to thwart evil.  Ah, but there’s a catch!  He loses the instruction manual for the suit and can never really operate it properly (kind of like alphamonkey and…well, anything).  Hilarious hijinx ensue.

when are we going to talk about shows people used to enjoy watching like K.I.D.S inc, my littlest robot, the fall guy, or whatever the fuck that retarded shit they were pumping into us was.

sadly my brain has covered up any memory of this until this weekend at best buy I saw this DVD, it gave me terrible nitemares.

this is one of those shows that I thought was just awesome.. when i was like 10.  Right up there with “Manimal” and “Misfits of Science”.  But I have a feeling that if I were to see it now, I would realize how crappy the show was and it would end up ruining my fond childhood memories.

I am afraid to see this dvd.

that just happened to me, good reverend. I rented V last week. while it wasn’t bad (for its early ‘80s tv), it wasn’t as good as it was when I was 9.

I forgot about V!  I loved that mini-series.  Thank you for steering me clear of it.

Although, I remember even my 10-year-old self finding that head alien chick completely dirty hot.  And I didn’t even know what “dirty hot” meant yet.  But she is, right?  Or am I not remembering correctly?

I think V still holds up once you get past the production values and the mind-boggling choice of Marc Singer as a leading man.

It’s fun to see Robert Englund play a mousey little good guy a few years before Freddy Kruger took over his life.

agreed. the storyline holds up and the effects really aren’t that bad. I guess, it’s just a dated style and look that hold it back. I still added V: The Final Battle to my must-rent list.

V is the shit… at least the mini series, the show lost it all. one of my main memories of that is marc singer riding a horse away from an alien shuttle and not getting shot. sure they can travel millions of miles, put fake skin over their reptile flesh but can’t fire a lazer to save themselves. but the idea of the daughter getting prego w/ half alien blood was just awesome.
