Fox has temporarily abandoned their new reality tv project, Who’s Your Daddy? In case you missed the horrifying ads for this, the premise of the show inolves a young woman meeting her birthfather for the first time.
So where’s the fun? Well Fox decided instead of just reuniting these two people they would make a sadistic game out of it, for your entertainment of course. The woman has to choose between 8 men, all of whom are pretending to be her father. If she chooses correctly she can win $100,000 cash prize. Wow, somewhere Norman Rockwell’s corpse is doing cartwheels. Fox, perplexed by the negative response has decided to pull the project, but they still defend it:
Both Fox representatives and the program’s producers have continued to insist that despite the provocative title, Who’s Your Daddy? is an emotionally uplifting show—and that not only were both the father and daughters completely willing participants, but the cash prize is merely intended to motive the imposters to try their best and keep the legitimate father from immediately revealing his identity.
Since Fox is so vocal in it’s defense, and since the episodes have already been shot, I expect we will be seeing this sometime in the future. In the meantime, Fox will continue to work on its other two backup projects, Who’s Your Rapist? and Who Cannibalized Your Grandfather? Seriously folks, the steady decline of good taste quickened by the reality tv craze makes me want to vomit. It seems millions of Americans are willing to line up to humiliate themselves in front of their fellow countrymen for five seconds of fame and a piece of silver. When politicians babble on about defending out way of life from terrorism, is this what they are refering to? Is this what so many have died for? If this is the best we can do, if this is what we have become, is it even worth fighting for?
