Dr. B.L.T. : Musical Visionary

While searching for a song (that I’ll post about when I find), I came across the homepage of Dr. Bruce L. Thiessen, a songwriter with a current affairs / Christian bent.

The song titles alone make this worth it.

“You’re Not the Kind of Ho (That Santa Had In Mind)”, “Heaven’s Making Room for Pope John Paul”, and “Womb Tomb” are my favorite titles.  This is crazy stuff that sounds like what would have happened if Gram Parsons got a lobotomy, became a youth pastor and overdosed on Fox News.

(I couldn’t find a decent pic, so here’s a dog with a guitar)

I wish the music was as entertaining as the titles. Someone try and listen through all of the one about Ms. Shiavo. It looks like Dr. BLT has a grip on current affairs AND music AND fusing them together into some…holy…union. Please, just listen…come on just try.

Oh, I assure you I did.

I’m on the hunt for an even better Schiavo song.

    Here’s an update for you:

“I would have never imagined you could do something like that with that song.”

    “The song is “F@#* great!”

“It’s going to be a big hit.”

These are just a few of the ways country fans have been reacting to the as-yet-unedited sample of a countrified arrangement of Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean.

Former backup singers for Buck Owens, Kim McAbee and Theresa Spanke will be adding their harmonies to the new country version of “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson. You can sample it here.

The song, in it’s entirety, edited and mixed, should be available by mid-July at:
