PowerPuff Girls Z

I’ll admit it: I was quite the PowerPuff Girls junkie back in the day. (Hey, I even have the Heroes & Villains CD) So I was taken aback by the announcement that Cartoon Network and TOEI Animation were doing a strict-anime version titled PowerPuff Girls Z

No word yet on whether this version will include seizure inducing tones and colors.  Educated guess places that at “yes, very”.

I had always imagined the Powerpuff girls series as a mix between american and japanese animation styles. Well, here’s japanese only now, which appears to have a serious Sailormoon bend.

I can’t imagine any good coming from this series.

To it’s credit though, there is a giant hammer. You cannot go wrong with a gigantic hammer.

I felt the same way, that the Powerpuff Girls was one of the few action cartoons that wasn’t just a derivation of every other action anime out there.  Cartoon Network is apt at ruining the few good things they do.

When I saw it, I too thought it was just Sailor Moon with different names; turns out the character designer for this show worked on Sailor Moon.

Not surprising, considering the white pupils.

    Never understood that.
