I am not a big comic book or graphic novel fan, but if more of them looked like Phil Noto’s work, I would change my ways.

Between the sketchy pencil work and watercolor treatments mixed with retro style and eclectic influences, his work is very easy to look at. Now there are a few images in his illustration portfolio that I am not too fond of, but for the most part I can appreciate his work.

Sweet Monkey Jesus.  That’s almost enough to make me pick up the otherwise unremarkable Birds of Prey.

What phenomenal artwork.  I really dig that 60’s pop look. Of course, I wish everyone still dressed and acted that way to.  Monkey wants to go to Swingin’ London.

Very cool.  I am so glad I didn’t know about him as a child.

When you were a kid, so was he.  Back in those days it was Adam Hughes, Dave Stevens, and Art Adams.
