Dr. Pepper loses some serious points for this one.  Not only are they making a half-assed attempt at subverting a childhood memory, they can’t even manage to make sense of it.

Yes, Dr. Pepper is using the Mahnamanah song.  The jerks.

Erm… you do realise that that music you so cherish as Muppet music (the Mahnamanah song) was originally written for a swedish porn film?

Sorry if I have subverted your childhood memories further. rasberry

To date I’ve heard it was for italian, spanish, french, and now swedish porn.

    Somebody needs to investigate.

OK, this is what I’ve digged up:

The original track, titled ‘Mah Na’ Mah Na’’, was written by an Italian film scorer called Piero Umiliani in 1968.

The film it was taken from was called ‘Sweden, Heaven or Hell’, a softcore documentary on Sweden. Apparently, the tune was a top 40 hit in Europe, and Henson heard it and picked it up (and yes, he did know where it came from).

If you want more info, I recommend:

or, if you want the soundtrack album, recently reissued:

Those were the days, when you could repurpose a porn song for a kids show without a scandal.  It’s a fun song, who cares where it came from.
