Xbox 360 – Water Balloon

Besides being a gaming console for which I deeply, deeply covet and pine, Xbox 360 has been the target for some seriously good advertising.  Water Balloons is another excellent spot for the 360.

While the gameplay ads are impressive (as is the console itself.  I spent a lot of time loitering around the demo consoles), I’m much more fond of these spots, which rely more on clever real-life analogys of the console’s capabilities.

Is the Xbox 360 really all that great? I’m a die hard Playstation junkie…is the Xbox that much better?

Yeah, it really is that much better.  However, a buddy of mine that writes games for Sony claims that the Playstation 3 will blow XBox-360 away.  Of course, that opinion could be slightly biased.

Most of the tech reviews I’ve read place both systems on even ground in regards to graphics/processing power.

But the funny thing is, in gameplay terms nothing new is truly brought to the table. The 360 and PS3 will have this pissing contest in graphics (in which the PS3 is much more powerful mind you, like anyone will notice), but really offer nothing new in gameplay. The 360’s greatest achievement will probably be it’s online marketplace where you can purchase simpler games, which might end up being better than the $60 a pop big budget whatevers.

I will be anxiously waiting Revolution, which offers something different at least (and free online play).

I just read some tech guy’s report saying that the Revolution’s graphics are barely superior to the GameCube’s

  • SonSon2

Yeah, I’ve read that too. Though I’m not really concerned. New gameplay experience vs. better graphics? New gameplay experience wins.

Though not quite related, the PS2 is the most popular selling system. Yet, it is the weakest in technical performance vs the Xbox and Gamecube.

I think my issue with Nintendo is that they seem to focus almost purely on the ‘kiddie game’ market.  Of course, Ape Escape 2 is like my favorite game ever, so I’m not exactly fit to judge.

  • SonSon2

Yeah, they seem to. However I’d like to think of it more as they cater to a “general” crowd, and really, some of the best games are ones that everyone can play.

My friend was mentioning something about a revolutionary new bus they had created which would magnify the processing power.  I can’t remember the details – this was months ago that we had this conversation and my brain shuts down a bit when people talk about gaming.  If anyone really cares that much, I’ll call my friend and ask him explain it again.  I certainly don’t care enough. smile
