Can I Get an Amen?

Nate Harrison’s 2004 audio installation ’Can I Get An Amen?‘ traces the history and evolution of what may be the most sampled drum beat in modern music, a short break from the 1969 track ‘Amen Brother’ by The Winstons.  This 17 minute long installation may get a bit dry at points, but it’s a very detailed and fascinating look at what may be the bedrock of modern music.

Absolutely fascinating! Suprisingly I didn’t get bored, despite being 17 minutes. Just six seconds from 1969 spawned all this music! Blows my mind completely

Yah, I was the same way.  I listened to the whole thing with the window minimized.  What a great research job.
