Is it possible to subvert from within?  Ask Mark Mothersbaugh and Gerald V. Casale, two of the founding members of Devo, and who’ve now teamed with Disney (?!) to aim some devolutionary love at the 5 to 8 year old market via Dev 2.0

Roll that around your brain for a second.  Or better yet, watch the videos (just click ‘videos’ link oddly enough).

My mind is so blown.

I can’t see this ever working.  It’s just too weird.

That lead singer is creeping me out.

It’s like Disney dragged Devo into an alley and beat them up! This is what came out of it! A softer version of their music!

sweet jesus, they’ve finally found a way to destroy one of the few decent things from the 80’s. have the crack prices escalated so much these dudes need to sell out this much? and I guess their name finally makes good… they have de evolved into superpopdisneytrash.

I think you folk are all underestimating Mothersbaugh & Co.’s ability to subvert from within.

Hmmm, A-monkey makes a point. That Devo! Bringing awareness to a new generation! Only a group like them could do something that ingenious!

Reality check.  Devo probably have little to do with this.  What record company produced there albums?  Follow the money folks.

Maybe they will us this opprotunity to subvert, but that would take some real craftiness.

Read the articles.  Devo produced all the music themselves, and Mothersbaugh and Casale are very much involved.  Devo’s own webpage talks about their involvement.

    Who’s craftier than Devo?

  • Boss Robot

well maybe McGuiver, that guy can take down an entire South American Dictatorship with the stuff found in a South American Village! But Devo, they’re real

    can we stop this?

    somebody make it stop?

I couldn’t stand to look at the web page long enough to read the articles, my fault.

I still think this is an amazingly bad idea.

I saw a clip on-line a while back, possibly on this site, of a kids talent show where they did a performance for “whip it”.  That was amusing.  This is frightening.  And could they have found some kids with any less rhythm?

Ooooh, I forgot about that 5th grader version of Whip It.  That was awesome.
