The University of California, Santa Barbara has taken on the rather intriguing task of preserving the most earliest sound recordings from the late 19th and early 20th century, the wax cylinder. With over 6,000 sound files for you to peruse and absorb, you can go full on old-timey hog wild.  I like this 1905 recording of ’Can’t you See I’m Lonely‘ sung by Miss Ada Jones.
