Digging back into the video archives, here’s a gorgeous clip of Nick Cave & Kylie Minogue’s ’Where the Wild Roses Grow‘ from 1995.  The unlikely pairing was directed by Rocky Schenck, whose work in music videos spans over 20 years.  (Boggles the mind, doesn’t it?)

Not only did Schenck direct spots for The Cramps, Devo, Redd Kross, The Meat Puppets, The Afghan Whigs, and Paul Westerberg (this guy’s resume reads like my CD collection), he’s also the gent responsible for the Fish Heads video

I think it’s funny that it seems like she tried this and then years later said “Nah, Eurodance is the way to go.”

“Murder Ballads” was a great allaround “theme” record.  This duet stands as one of the better songs off it.  Heck any record with a line like…

“Well the thunder from my steely fist

    Made all the glasses jangle

When I shot him, I was so handsome

It was the light, it was the angle”

…is pretty fantastic in my book.
