The Cowsills – Folsom Prison Blues

For you non-music nerds out there, The Cowsills were the real-life inspiration for the Partridge Family, but without all suckage or Susan Dey.  Sadly, Barry Cowsill was killed sometime during the Katrina Hurricane, and Billy Cowsill (who almost replaced Brian Wilson in the Beach Boys) passed on in Feburary of this year.  Here’s a great live performance of the gang belting out ’Folsom Prison Blues‘, courtesy of the always wonderful music blog, Bedazzled.

they took a brilliant johny cash song and made it messy, it sucks!

Johnny dug the Cowsills. Had ‘em on his show quite a bit.

  • The Scarlet Harlot

Not bad, but the bass player was a little too perky for such a song.

I shall brook no bad-mouthing of Susan Cowsill. None!

Like the site but Not the mean Cowsill comment.

They came back from the ashes and They can all sing too.

    Love Susan. Love them all.

    Everyone can’t love everything.

    No mean Cowsill Comments.

    Cowsills rule.

Check out all their My Space sites and

Proud to be in the Cowsill Army.

Too bad, we f***in hate the Cowsills here.

    DePeche Mode for life!

Hold still while I find the ‘ban’ button.

  • Patsy

Too bad looser your banned from me.

  • .alphamonkey.

Magnanimous in ironic victory, eh?  Classy.

I mean, c’mon. You can’t really expect that I would ban someone for that, do you?

  • elkciN

So close. Though were I running things, the phrase ‘DePeche Mode for life!’ would result in an instant ban, or a minimum of two years of mockery.

If you’re looking for someone to ban, did you hear what BADD said about your momma?

  • Patsy

No I didn’t think you would ban me. I get along with most people.

I thought you were just kidding so I joined in.

    Happy New Year.
