Marketing Goes Full On Meta.  Universe Collapses

I’ve been wary of the emerging idea that the marketing is the product for quite some time, as I think 99% of the time it amounts to nothing more than glorified wankery, but has upped the ante and engaged in full on public marketing masturbation with their self proclaimed ‘viral’ spot for Subway, which consists solely of the ad group pitching the idea of a viral that features the agency pitching the idea to Subway.

That made my head hurt.

Anyway, as interesting as it may be to have video evidence of an ad agency tricking a client into paying for a commercial for an ad agency, I’d just like to say right now that I really, really, really hope that this doesn’t start a trend.  Because nothing turns me off more than watching marketing guys celebrate their own navel gazing.
