In terms of covers, this should be up there with Mr Cash’s verison of “Hurt”.
Yah. I don’t know if I’d put it in the Johnny Cash category, but it’s a damn fine cover. It’s certainly a testament to how well that song holds up to different intrepretations. I really expected to not enjoy it, but I found the dirge feel oddly appropriate.
Reminds me of the iron and wine cover of such great heights. The guy even looks like sam beam.
I think he put soul into that tune. But why does andre3000 have to be used?
Probably because the footage of Weddle isn’t so interesting in and of itself. I liked that he sync’d it up to the video, as it let me see where and how he was changing the tempo.
I am goddamned amazed at how well this translates. It sounds like it was SUPPOSED to be this way. Very very good.
This would sit really well on a playlist next to The Gourds “Gin and Juice” and Dynamite Hack’s “Boyz in the Hood” covers.
hmmm. . . I don’t know. Not feeling it. I won’t go into detail in fear of the electronic snowball fight that might ensue. . .
I’m always a sucker for acoustic covers. Anyone know where to find a mp3 of this beauty?
nvm. found it. obadiahparker.com if anyone else wants to know.
Totally sweet. Up there with Cash.
You can get the MP3 free from HERE. Good stuff indeed.
