I haven’t watched any of the new Battlestar Galactica, but I know damn well they lost me when they dumped the kick ass Cylon design of my youth.  Apparently, someone out there agrees with me.

I would kill to have that costume for Halloween, I tell you that.

It’s okay if you let cosmetic differences form the basis of your opinion about the BSG re-imagining.  I mean, hey, it’s only the best series on modern TV.

I love just about everything Transbuddha – so thank you for an awesome site – but I’m afraid I must humbly disagree with you regarding the new Battlestar Galactica. While I was initially leery of the changes they made (a female Starbuck? WTF?), I gave them a chance and watched the first few episodes. I am beyond hooked now, and the new BSG is definitely the best show on television.

Yeah .AM., I think you may be missing out on something. I was prepared to hate the mini-series, but haven’t missed an episode yet of the new series, which has much kick-(whoa, didn’t see that coming)- assity.

The show suffers from bad writing at times, but still the atmosphere and great cast got me hooked.

I’m cable-less, currently, and I’ll admit that watching here and there episodes on the ‘net is probably not the best way to get into a show.  Right now Casa de Monkey is revisiting Six Feet Under via DVD, so I’ll have to have some time to clear my palette before taking on anything else. SFU is just so damn good, it’s hard to watch anything else.

I don’t post alot on this site, but this prompted me to write something. I love ‘Buddha, but hearing you talk bad about the new BSG physically pained me (could be gas). I never watch the original, but I have a hard time finding a show that keeps my interest as well as Battlestar. Not since Firefly have I cared so much about the characters, and what happens to them. It is one of those shows, however, that you have to see every episode (in order) to really get into it (kinda like 24) Anyway… that was my two cents. Love the ‘Buddha. Keep up the good work.

I know that not everybody is into the new Battlestar Galactica, but I like it a whole lot better than the old one. Its a very intense show that keeps you on your toes. I watch every episode and blog about it at my website at:

So ya I’m a BSG junkie I guess grin

I sure wouldn’t say it’s the best show on television. It isn’t bad, I’ll give it that. Some guy named M.Tucker made me watch the first two seasons on DVD and, while it was entertaining enough, I just didn’t care what was going to happen next. Dr. Gaius is a damn good character, the rest can fall into a black hole for all I care. The old school Cylons were way better.

If they could find a way to put the old Cylons into Charles In Charge, it’d be the best TV show ever.

  • labrazio

I will admit that the Lucy Lawless Cylon is up there with the old Cylons, but for different reasons.

You must, absolutely, give it a try. If you’ve got netflix just get the miniseries and the first disk of season one. If you’re not hooked, don’t bother with any more of it. I made it that far, then went to Wal*Mart to buy seasons one and 2.0. I had 2.5 as soon as it was out. I skipped it in the beginning because I felt just as you do, that they were changing too much of a classic thing, but once I was talked into giving it a chance, I was blown away.
