Jonathan Glazer and Mother London produced this spot for Motorola, who has no intention of airing it apparently. Part of the ‘Red’ campaign, this spot ties into the initiative where bigger corporations introduce red products; a portion of which goes to combat AIDS (along with other maladies) in Africa.
Of course (considering the parties involved) this may be yet another stealth attempt to garner notoriety via the WOM and viral channels. I believe I’ve made my feelings on that approach perfectly clear, so I shan’t repeat them. Regardless of how above or below the board this spot is, the real focus needs to be on just how freakin’ beautiful it is as a visual work. Glazer really did something gorgeous here, and it’s almost a shame for it to be used for a commercial, no matter how worthy the cause.
