Here’s a neat clip that compiles the various creatures and creations of Ray Harryhausen’s illustrious 57 year career.  Baby, that’s a whole lot of monster.

Oh, man…. nearly all of my favorite monsters are in here. It’s easy to forget just how much influence this man had on film making.

When I was a kid, between Time Life’s “Mysteries of the Unknown” series and “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” series, I would repeatedly check-out this series of thin orange movie monster books.  I can’t recall the stupid name of the series, but each one was about different types of movie monsters.

Anyway, they were filled with classic stop-motion monsters and I would use them as reference tools to rent obscure classics like those featured in this clip.  Long story short, thank you for the nostalgia trip.

    Ray was an awsome inovator.

I just caught Mysterious Island right before Thanksgiving.
