It’s Wednesday so it must be time to take a gander at the new stack of comic book titles hitting the shelves today.  So get your comic book geek on, and let’s take a look, shall we?

This week’s fun includes Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Green Arrow, Hellstorm: Son of Satan, Justice Society of America, Sandman Mystery Theater: Sleep of Reason, Stormwatch: PHD, and more graphic novels than you could shake a stick at including The Champions Classic Vol. 2, Jack Hightower, Shaman Warrior Volume 1, and Showcase Presents: Justice League of America Vol.2.  Okay, you probably could shake a stick at all of ‘em, but why bother?

Batman Confidential #2 – Batman discovers the man behind the robot menacing Gotham City is Isaac Asimov Lex Luthor. [$2.99]

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #16 – Spider-Man takes on the Vulture and tries to make amends to Debra Whitman, but when former flame Betty Brant shows up too thing could get really interesting for old web head. [$2.99]

Stormwatch: PHD #3 – The team trains in Sin City, or is there a more sinister reason for the trip?  Not spicy enough for ya’?  How about this – two of the temmates decide to get pelvic with each other.  Yeah, there you go. [$2.99]

Welcome to Tranquility #2 – Ever wonder what the funeral of a super-hero is like (I mean if you haven’t already read The Watchmen and Death of Superman and…oh, you get the idea)? [$2.99]

Batman: Year One (Deluxe Edition) – In case you don’t already have a copy of Frank Miller’s Batman Year One (and if that’s the case what’s wrong with you?!) here’ another trade paperback version of Miller’s take on Batman’s origin and first year fighting the cowardly lot of Gotham’s underworld.  For those of you with time and money you might want track down this edition instead. B.P.R.D. – Secrets of the past are the key to the B.P.R.D.’s future in this trade paperback collection of the five-issue mini-series. [$17.95]

The Champions Classic Vol. 2 – You remember The Champions?  The scrappy, and perhaps best forgotten, hero team of Iceman, the Angel, Hercules, Black Widow and Ghost Rider?  Yeah, I didn’t think so.  Anyway, here they get together to fight Stilt-Man, Magneto, Doctor Doom, and more in this trade paperback collection. Fallen Angel Vol. 2: Down to Earth – Trade paperback collection of Down to Earth issues #7-12 as the Fallen Angel protects the city of Bete Noire against the Black Mariah. [$14.99]

Majestic Vol. 3: The Final Cut – Trade paperback collecting Majestic issues #13-17 as the group stands against an overwhelming enemy in a battle for their adopted planet. [$14.99]

Ghost Rider Vol. 1: Vicious Cycle – Stuck in hell the spirit of Johnny Blaze finally finds a way out, but at what cost in this trade paperback of the relaunched Ghost Rider issues #1-5? [$13.99]
