Ow My Balls!

If you have not seen Mike Judge’s new film “Idiocracy”, you are far from alone.  The studio buried its release and quietly ushered it onto DVD, just like they did for “Office Space”.  Poor guy.  This film is nowhere near the quality of “Office Space”, and it is a little one-note; however there are enough delightfully puerile laughs to make it worth watching.  Like this scene, which shows the future of TV- which is pretty much the current state of video on the web, so its more than plausible.  While I would never call Idiocracy a good movie, I also will never say that I didn’t laugh my ass of during it.

My friend heard about this and we rented it off Netflix last week.  I’d grade it about like you did.  Nothing compared to Office Space, but worth a rental.  Some of the stupid humor is really quite funny.  Actually, I can’t stop saying “Ow My Balls” the way the narrator does.

I watched Idiocracy the weekend before last, then because I was in a Mike Judge kind of mood, I watched Office Space last weekend. I’m going to have to differ with the above comments and say that Idiocracy is just as good as Office Space. Actually, it might even have more big laughs.

more big laughs i think yes, but ‘overall structure and satisfying social commentary’ award goes to office space- it is just a superior film.  not as funny at its peaks, but overall it is higher quality.  idiocracy suffers in the last act from ‘completely running out of steam’ syndrome.
