Dutch West

Since I’ve been wrangling the reins here at Transbuddha (for holy crap, nearly 4 years now), I’ve watched me a lot of internet comedy.  I’ve seen a number of groups blow up and flame out, but Sam Reich, Josh Ruben, Matt Moore, Vincent Peone, and Elaine Carroll (collectively known as Dutch West) have stayed the course with their wonderful (and prolific) brand of comedy love, and for that reason I’m more than comfortable calling them my favorite sketch group working today.

While Sam Reich is most assuredly the ringleader of this bunch, the talent that each member brings to the table is phenomenal, and I’ve got an entire classification system of who I love in each sketch for what reason.  I’m a nerd like that.  And I wouldn’t be a very honest webmonkey if I didn’t admit that there’s a rumor around Casa del Mono that I’ve got a serious man crush on Josh.  But beyond my own personal preference, there’s a beautiful mix of goofball antics and dark humor in their work that’s just simply unmatched by most of their contemporaries.  It’s not often a group can pull off a joyous dance fest with the same ease and aplomb as as skit about Sasquatch as a sexual predator and make them equally hilarious.

In short, I can’t possibly praise this group highly or loudly enough, and I firmly feel that they’re the gold standard for content creators working on the internet today.

Sam is now the original content director for College Humor, but thankfully that hasn’t taken away from my beloved DW.  So spend some time with Dutch West already. Geez!

They are my favorite comedy group of all time, as well.  Their humor and direction and acting are all unique and amazing.  And I found them through transbuddha, so thank you sir.
