Thought it was ‘bout time for a belated, though no less deserved, ol’ fashioned RazorFine Shout Out to the Dixie Chicks for taking home 5, count ‘em 5, Grammy Awards – Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Country Album, and Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group. That should take some of the sting away from the Oscar snub for their terrific documentary Shut Up and Sing (the only flick to make both Scarlet’s top ten list and mine). Who says you gotta’ make nice to win?
Country music’s transcendent trio may still not be on many of their former fans playlists, but these Chicks just keep singing and belting out the hits with a mix of twang and heartbreak. There’s an embed below for you in case you missed the Chicks’ Grammy performance. Also, if you’ve got the time you can check out the VH1 Storytellers site and watch vids of the Chicks live performance of some new hits and familiar fav’s.
Here are the Dixie Chicks, Natalie Maines, Emily Robinson, and Martie Maquire, singing the Song of the Year, “Not Ready to Make Nice.”
Sometimes the struggle does pay off. Keep singing ladies, and don’t let anyone tell you to shut up.
