I’m completely unashamed of my ceaseless adoration for Wes Anderson and his films, so how about wasting some lunchtime minutes with the original 1994 short of Bottle Rocket (which of course was expanded into its own wonderful film).

Was anyone else as excited to see Robert Musgrave’s bit in the ridiculously awesome Idiocracy

We’ve debated Wes Anderson before, but I’m still baffled by your love for this film.  Me, the guy who loves heist flicks (and has a shelf of his DVD collection set aside for them) thinks it’s something of a misfire, but not you.  Your love for Wes Anderson seems to know no bounds.

Maybe because you look at Bottle Rocket as a heist film, when it’s a comedy about friends (with a nice romance thrown in). It’s an incredibly touching and funny film, and one of the best film debuts I can think of.

I keep A Fish Called Wanda on my heist shelf too, now that’s a great comedy and heist flick!

As for great film directoral debuts I’ll give five recent ones I’d take over Bottle Rocket any day:  The Virgin Suicides, Garden State, Clerks, Serenity, and Bring It On.

You really want me to throw down on Garden State, Clerks, and Serenity?
