Buffalo Tom – Sodajerk

Whilst looking for something to listen to in the car, I rediscovered an album that I completely obsessed over back in ‘93: Big Red Letter Day, the fourth album from Boston pop-rockers, Buffalo Tom. Bill Janovitz and crew might have hit their creative zenith with their follow-up, Sleepy Eyed, but Big Red Letter Day remains a perfect testament to smart pop rock songwriting.  In fact, I’d wager that Janovitz’s recurring themes of alienation and internal discord had a pretty sizable influence on my own writing.

Anyway, here’s the very early 90’s looking video for their biggest single off the album, ‘Sodajerk’.

Oddly enough, Buffalo Tom have a new album slated for release in 2007 (their first original recording since 1998’s underrated ‘Smitten’ ), so I’ll have to keep an ear out for it.

    Oh 90’s alternative… How I love thee…

Their single “Summer” is one of a handful of songs that I can listen to at any time and always be in the mood for it.  I don’t think I ever saw this video, but I dig the song.  And you’re right, it is very very early 90’sish.
