So apparently some bright fool over at Tootsie Roll Industries* decided that one of my generation’s most iconic commercials needed a CGI facelift, and so they asked LucidCircus to utterly butcher the How Many Licks Does it Take? spot.
To be fair, a member of LucidCircus admitted that they were given strict orders to gussy up the spot in an attempt to capture the blooming CG film market, but that doesn’t excuse the idiots at Tootsie Roll Industries for making such a ridiculous choice.
*While I’m at it, I just have to say: I could have sworn I’d hit someone’s half-assed homage page to Tootsie Rolls when I found their homepage. C’mon, guys! I know you haven’t altered a recipe in 20 years (thankfully), but that doesn’t mean your corporate site should look like someone’s discarded Frontpage 95 template.
