In honor of Shigeru Miyamoto’s placement on Time’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world (with a poorly written, self-serving article by none other than ’Fatal1ty‘, yippee!), let’s look back at the burgeoning days of the industry he’s had such an impact on.

Oh, how far we’ve come.

Also, bonus points for recognizing the anchor who seems ‘confused’ by these magical game devices.

UGH!  This is the first time I’ve actually read the blurb.  I can’t believe it starts with a paragraph entirely about him and how awesome he thinks he is.  Shame on Time for A. thinking a professional gamer is automatically the source for a writing assignment (as opposed to the hundreds of quality gaming journalists out there) and B. accepting this tripe after getting a chance to read it.  To me, it is indicative of how little the mass media still thinks of video games.

Well, considering they threw Miyamato in at a measly #92, it’s probably lucky they didn’t get Jack Thompson to write it up.

Yup.  That was probably the Inside Edition show that got him his imaginary Peabody award.
