The awesomeness that is I Can Has Cheezburger? knows no limits, but throwing up a dissertation on the evolution of l33t speak that led to LOLCats is just sheer brilliance.

no, not really. a dissertation on LOLCat speak really isn’t smart, nor funny.

    an example:

    have you seen Borat?

did you see the sequence where Borat visited the guy who was trying to explain to him what was funny and why?

    LOLCats is Borat.

The person who wrote the dissertation on LOLCats is the sad, unfunny, hopelessly idiotic guy who teaches the class on “what’s funny.”

    the end.

please enter the word you see in the image:

    yes, thank you. i’m human.

You didn’t actually read it, did you?  It’s not meant to be funny nor does it attempt to explain why/how LOLCatz are funny. It’s just an interesting read on the evolution of l33t speak from speech macro to image macro and the seemingly wholly formed usage rules that have sprung up around it.

He forgot the arrow coming out from “I has…” and pointing to “a bukkit.”

so i woke up on the wrong side of the bed that afternoon.

i read it a few days before.

i need to write an essay on the evolution of the smiley face – now THERE’S some fascinating history of art, propaganda and language.

if i could only read…i could do it.
