I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m so ridiculously stupid for Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, and Paul Gauguin is easily one of my all-time favorite artists. So today, how about spending a few minutes giving your eyeballs some love via Mark Harden’s Artchive, and his great gallery of Gauguin’s work

His art is truly fascinating. i love how he mixed the styles of western europe with the native art of figi. the beauty he gave to the natives (okay so he was like most artists in touch with his id). Such amazing mixture of the sublime and the real, almost surrealist in a way…

as contrast i suggest you look up the portraits of Lucian Freud. harsh and over realistic nudes, he is somehow showing us something deeper than the beauty we are always craving.
