Saturday Afternoon Cartoons

I don’t know about you, but if there was ever a thing in my childhood that I wish I could perfectly recapture the feeling of, I’d have to say it’s Saturday morning cartoons.  There was just something so perfect about knowing that Saturday mornings were totally mine, with a hearty slate of cartoon goodness from 7am to noon.  With a myriad of channels showing cartoons non-stop (not too mention the sheer glut of kids-oriented programming) there’s no way for my kids to have that same experience, and I think they’ll be poorer for it.  Oddly enough, one thing that strikes me is that it was Saturday mornings that got me into following the news, as each channel (CBS especially) had little news segments peppered in over the course of the morning, and those got me interested in the wider world around me.

Anyway, enough rambling.  Just for grins and giggles, here’s an oldie that gives the full skinny on Hal Jordan, otherwise known as Green Lantern.

Super thanks to the excellent Saturday Morning Blog for the clip.
