Trailer Fun

I’m a big fan of David Wain’s ’Wet Hot American Summer‘, but the idea of him tackling a sketch film taking on the 10 Commandments didn’t exactly light my fire.  Until I saw the cast.  And then the trailer.

And now, I’ll admit… I want to see this.

I’m also curious about Paul Thomas Anderson’s return to the directing chair (though I’ll admit I had no idea he A.D.’d Altman’s Prairie Home Companion) via ’There Will Be Blood‘ which tackles Upton Sinclair’s 1927 novel ”Oil!“.  Below is a rather non-standard trailer put together by P.T. Anderson. (Found via the P.T. Anderson blog, Cigarettes & Red Vines)

I can’t say I’m pleased by the subject matter PTA chose for latest movie, especially after the semi-modern social studies of his other films, but at the same time… it’s Paul Thomas God Damned Anderson and I will watch it regardless and I have no doubt he will MAKE me like it.

I think we’ll find that he’s managed to distill Sinclair’s novel to it’s personal core.  That’s the vibe I’m getting from the trailer, at least.
