A Death in the Family

My near constant companion of 15 years passed away earlier this afternoon, from complications of a stroke suffered on Saturday.  Camille lived through a house fire, being clipped by a car, and being lost and living on her own for 3 months, but in the end age and time caught up with her, and she left this world curled up and sleeping on her favorite spot on the bathroom tile.  I’ll miss her terribly.

G’night, Camille.

You’ll forgive my sporadic posting today, and perhaps tomorrow.  I just don’t have it in me right now.

update 7.11.07: My sincere & humble thanks to everyone who commented or wrote with their sympathies and condolences.

Was Camille all black and white?  I have a cat that is.

Sorry to here she is gone.

My parents lost a Russian blue double pawed Manx not to long ago, and I grew up with that cat.  He had cancer.

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. I’ve suffered through the loss of beloved cats, myself, and I know how devastating and debilitating it is. I’m sure Camille left us with the happy knowledge that she was thoroughly loved.

Think of the insane fun she’s gonna have with the trillions of other cats she’ll meet up with where she’s going. I would put my money on cat-heaven being the craziest of all heavens.

I think one of the hardest things in life to go through is the death of a furry companion. My deepest sympathies and I hope you can remember all the times she made you laugh.

My thoughts are with you. Take care.

    Thoughts are totally with you.

I friend of mine and I picked up an very friendly alley cat that kept hanging around a house we were rehabbing.  We named him scraps.  That was 16 years ago.  It will be a sad day when this crazy ingenious cat must leave this world.

I’m sorry, sir. Any person who says their furry amigo died and didn’t feel topsy-turvy about it is either heartless, lying, or Paris Hilton. Me and my pomeranian Beauregard send our deepest condolences.

I’m truly humbled by all the responses I’ve received , and comforted by the kind words from you all.  It’s astounding just how hard this hit me, even with the knowledge that it had to happen eventually.  Camille was very much family, and I’m poorer for the loss of her.
