DC Comics has created a new imprint called Zuda Comics, which looks to work as an online submission queue for comic book artists and writers. Traditionally, the avenues one navigated to getting their work seen by editors in the big comic houses have been byzantine and tough to pass. Zuda submissions will be picked by DC editors and then put to a public vote. Winning entries will receive a one-year contract to produce an online series (and one would imagine a sizable foot in the door towards getting a shot at writing an existing title, depending on how popular the online series is).
The New York Times has a good rundown of the setup. (registration required)
That’s enough to get me seriously thinking about developing all the ideas I’ve had stored in the back of my head for ages. I wonder if they’ll accept stick-figure art?
