Kanye West – Stronger

I’d not seen this Hype Williams directed clip for Kanye West’s ‘Stronger’ until today, and I find myself a bit perplexed.  The sampling of Daft Punk’s ‘Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger’ is certainly an interesting choice, as is the whole anime future-Japan thing, but I’m not sure it’s such a great fit for West.  Still, it’s flashy and stylish.

Wow!  What a huge steaming pile that was!  I mean, to sample a song as strong and original as “Harder Better..” and somehow make it unlistenable.. that takes a special talent.

And Kanye, who gave you access to the “drug dealer props” room from the original Miami Vice series so you could snag those shades?  Oh, and “convulsing up and down against a wall” <> “dancing”.

    You suck, Kanye.

according to Japanator.com visuals were inspired/taken from Akira. kinda made me wanna see the anime all over again.

and yeh…was not feeling the song.

I thought the song was pretty tight.  What saddens me is that he takes such a brave and strange song like that and all he can come up with is the same old “ooh baby I wanna do you” lyrics.

Daft Punk should be working with Kool Keith instead!

Right, because Kool Keith didn’t put out an entire album that was ridiculous pornography specifically.  (Intentional or not, I’m just saying.)

    Ace Rock, accept nothing less.

There are better remixes of Harder, Faster, but I don’t think he did too bad. The Vyle remix is pretty mediocre, The Neptunes and Dirty Disco Youth rock it out though!

The whole Human After All album stank so bad I took it back.

(Does that make me a French electro geek?)

I think Hype is trying to sell his ability to make the live action Akira movie because this video is obviously ripping off (playing homage) to Akira. I believe Kanye is Tetsuo in the music video. The tailight blurs of the motorcycles gives it away. I’m sure this was their intention or it had better have been or Hype is an unimaginiative fraud.
