G’night Mike Wieringo

in Comics!

Comics illustrator Mike Wieringo passed away on Sunday, and with that the field lost a great talent.  I really dug his work on Spectacular and Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (as well has his run on The Flash with Mark Waid back in the early-to-mid 90’s), and his cartoon-ish style was always a stand-out against the hordes of anime-esque artists in the field.

Wieringo’s personal site is way down right now (probably due to an overload of traffic), but his work-for-sale gallery at MothComix is still live.  I really, really, really recommend checking out Wieringo’s sketchblog when (if) it goes live again, as he updated just about every day, and there’s no shortage of gorgeous illustration to feast those eyeballs on.

G’night Ringo.
