From the British Comedy, “The IT Crowd“, a great spin on PSA’s about piracy.

Oh, if only our PSA’s could really be this cool.

alphamonkey sez: I’m curious how anyone in the movie industry thinks that forcing people who’ve paid $10 dollars to see your shitty movie to sit through 25 minutes worth of ads only to then watch a clip that treats the entire audience like criminals is supposed to make anyone think twice about downloading a movie.

I think it was supposed to make fun of the anti-piracy PSA’s, not serious. Personally it cracked me up.

I was commenting on the actual existence of the PSAs that inspired this. That just boggles my mind.

I totally agree with you. It’s amazed me for so long that they treat people who’ve paid good money for their product like that and I was so happy when I saw this on TV the other day. Hilarious and right on the money.

I’m a big fan of them on DVDs that I’ve bought from the store.

‘Would you steal a DVD?’ No, that’s why I bought this one. I might consider it, if you keep putting moronic crap like this on retail dvds. It’s funny, because if I HAD downloaded the movie, I never would’ve seen that message.

Of course, this is an industry that pays people 20 million dollars for 6 weeks of work, then passes that cost onto us, and we’re fine with that. If they can get away with that, I suppose calling me a thief is not a problem for them.

I am very curmudgeonly in the morning.

On the bright side, tonight I learned the proper adjective form of curmudgeon.

    That’s always nice.
