I’m a big believer in the idea that we (as a species) are inordinately predisposed towards making decisions that act against our own self-interest when we’re presented with more immediate kinds of existential (or physical) terror, so Naomi Klein’s book The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism is certainly on my must-read list.

In the immediate, Klein teamed up with director Alfonso Curaon to create a short film on the subject entitled, (oddly enough), The Shock Doctrine.
