An article regarding Ticketmaster’s suit against scalping software maker RMG Technologies* put me on the floor with this little nugget of fun: Can you guess what the most expensive and sought after tour this Fall season is? No? Hannah Montana, of all things. Scalpers (who have effectively swept up most available tickets) have driven the average price of a ticket up to $237 (which makes seeing the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus perform as her TV alter ego more expensive than seeing Bruce Springsteen) with some prices skyrocketing up to $2,500 – $3,000 a ticket.
The mind boggles.
*Ticketmaster vs Scalpers. Hmmm… it’s certainly a ‘lesser of two evils’ conundrum, ain’t it?
