We started this day with some Bert, so let’s end it with some Bertram. Peter Spears made a name for himself when he debuted his short film ‘Ernest & Bertram‘ at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival. Of course, retelling ‘The Children’s Hour’ using the undying rumor of Bert & Ernie’s* homosexuality fast attracted the attention of the Children’s Television Workshop (which should come as a surprise to absolutely no one), and the short was immediately pulled, but not before it could attain a cult status as an underground classic (Much like Todd Haynes classic stop-motion Barbie powered ‘Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story’).
