Stephen Chow fans rejoice! The man responsible for Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle (two Casa del Mono faves) has a new one coming out in the form of CJ7, which looks like a bizaare hybrid of E.T. and Gremlins (with no shortage of kung fu thrown in). Hell, even a kid’s film from Chow is worth my time, so I’m excited. Behold trailer-y goodness:
In other Chow news, the sequel to Kung Fu Hustle is still on track for 2008 release, but it seems he’s also producing a live action Dragon Ball movie. Never having had the time to watch all 9 million episodes of Dragon Ball, I’m not a big fan, but the cast includes Chow Yun-Fat and James Marsters (better known as Spike from Buffy/Angel). Weird.

kung fu hustle sequel- can’t wait. dbz movie… will at least be interesting visually (i’m not a fan of the thin, slow plot progression in dbz). cj7… i’m not giddy like a schoolgirl to see this one, but i bet if i do get it on netflix or whatever that it will be fun- chow is a masterful storyteller with a great eye for cool and funny in the same breath. i hope he makes 800 more movies.
