The price of oil reached $100 dollars a barrel today, (a jump of 71% from the same time last year) as the US admitted that stockpiles of crude were in sharp decline.

2008: Starting off AWESOME.

Update: Back down to a much more reasonable 99.18, having dropped a whopping 91 cents. Woo-hoo.

It’s the World Without Oil scenario ( played in slo-mo. In my local paper, the $100/bbl announcement was accompanied by articles titled “OPEC’s ability to meet demand is questioned” and “Airlines pull out stops to save fuel.” Delta Air’s president, Ed Bastian: “We think actually one of the best ways to manage the fuel crisis is not to fly the aircraft.” That is straight out of WWO.

Huh, I didn’t realize that, but you’re right. Weird.

$3.23 a gallon in my neck o’ the woods. I can’t even fill up my car with $60.00. That’s obscene.
