As part of my new year/clean bookmarks habit, I typically go through and dump the massive collection of bookmarks that accumulate over the course of a year. This time around, I’ll be sharing with you (my dear internet pals) the cooler stuff that’s getting the cut:
The Savage Silencing of Mexico’s Musicians: The Washington Post takes a long look at the seedy side of the Mexican music industry; one that’s rife with drug-lord funded bands and payback/payolla that makes Berry Gordy’s iron-fist seem almost quaint.
Reuters recycles Lake Superior State University’s list of the year’s cliches, apparently incapable of noting the irony.
In your face, 2007: This look back takes a long hard look at the 00’s so far via the New York Times’ Metro section. Pretty fascinating stuff, actually.
Book I’m most anxious to read but can never remember the title when I’m at the bookstore: Natalie Angier’s The Canon: A Whirligig Tour of the Beautiful Basics of Science, which seems to be a nice companion book to Bill Bryson’s Short History of Nearly Everything.
Petra Haden (and pals) rocking ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ a capella style.
Ecogeek’s list of 7 Technologies That Will Save the Earth in 2008.
Ah, much better. Now we can start anew.
