I lived in Kansas* for quite some time. I liked Kansas. I enjoyed the many honest, tolerant, and open-minded people I knew there. But holy crap, can that state throw down the embarrassment:

Kansas high school says woman can’t ref boys game.

Though to be fair, being as Johnson County is effectively a suburb of Kansas City, MO, I can’t say the entire state is a wellspring of awesome

Did anyone else find it ironic that the patron saint the school is named after is a woman?

That’s my home town. Used to be a great place, too. There are still some fine people living there, but the place has been invaded by hundreds of mentally ill religious fanatics. They have been there long enough, and reproduce so enthusiastically, that they now have half the seats on the town council. I don’t go there any more.
